The entrance will be locked at 21:00. If you are late, your reservation is automatically canceled, and the cancellation fee is needed. Please be forewarned.

The perfect place to experience the traditional Japanese way of life. The rooms are tatami-matted, with futon bedding. The guests rent a cotton YUKATA to use as a bathrobe and nightwear, and in winter a thick HANTEN quilted jacket.
The entrance and kitchen area has a hard earthen floor called a DOMA, where footwear was taken off. It is an aspect of the Japanese inside/ outside concept. The entrance located in between functions as a kind of purifier of everybody entering.
Historical Architecture
The desktop is a sacred space. Low traditional desks called FUZUKUE are used in tatami rooms. Writing and reading were regarded not just as study, but a way to discipline ourselves. We are expected to keep a proper sitting posture.
The guest could graspe the elegance of rustic and subdued simplicity, and discover in it new qualities. It is a kind of combination of simplicity, patina, moderation, and slight but deliberate imperfection.

The smallest unit of Japan
Every HARUYA Hostels have Japanese-Style Economy Twin Room. The width of the room is only 6㎡. This is the smallest room of Japan. Like a tea-ceremony room in the architecture, like a 31-syllable Japanese poem in the literature, Noh and a Noh comedy in the theatrical art, a Japanese sense of beauty was whetted in the limitation. In this little time, space, brightness, the limited life is emphasized.

Traditional Merchant Buildings in Nara
"Machiya" is a traditional wooden architecture style that could be seen in central Japan. The front windows are covered by wooden lattices and there are Japanese courtyards in the middle.
There is the bad point that a sound and a voice are easy to echo, but you could enjoy small birdsong and sound of rain like music. We escort you to pleasant time with traditional artwork of Japan since you entered the building.
The unique lounges
The standard facilities are minimum, but free facilities are substantial for the enjoyable trip. We wish you enjoy Japan more. There are a few unique lounges in som adjacent buildings.
"Japanese lounge" in which we could enjoy changing the shape of shadow. There is a free PC. Please use it to plan the tomorrow's sightseeing with a family or the friend.
Japanese garden
In the 24 hours available Japanese lounge, the books about a temple and Buddhism, industrial arts, design, a tea ceremony, a flower, a collection of valuable photographs are prepared for you.
At "the Japanese lounge" from which we could enjoy a mossed Japanese garden, there are free coffee and tea. Please enjoy the interchange with the tourist who can come from all over the world.

"Nara city Loop Line" to HARUYA Hostels Naramachi
Nara city Loop Line Anti-clockwise bus#1 "Hachikenmachi"bus stop
Take The Nara city Loop Line Anti-clockwise bus#1(at JR Nara Sta. East Bus terminal #5 platform) and get off at Hachikenmachi(Bus stop #N-16), Walk towards the next traffic light intersection,called Hachikenmachi. Turn left and walk about 150 meters then turn right at the traffic light corner. Walk about another 50 meters and turn left at the next corner. Then walk about 200 meters to where you will find the hostel on the right with lighting Hostels logo.
① It is such a scenery when you get off at the "Hachikenmachi" (Bus stop #N-16).
② Please be careful. the direction to the pedestrian bridge is wrong.
③ The correct way is the direction to the big corner with traffic sign "八軒町東(Hachikenmachi Higashi)"
④ Turning left at the big corner and keep straight to the next traffic light.
⑤Turning right at the traffic light corner with toy store.
⑥The traffic light corner is such a scenery.
⑦You will soon see a corner on the left.
⑧Turning left at the small corner.
⑨ Keep straight about 180 meters (2 min) then you will see a sign on your right hand side.
